Purpose

The purpose of the Northern Directions Policy Vision is to provide a coherent department-wide vision and strategic roadmap. It will identify key objectives and provide direction for the department’s legal operations, policy and programs work in the Territories. The purpose of this consultation is also to seek the views of northerners on the role that the Federal Prosecution Service should play in the North.

 The Northern Vision is intended to:

• Encourage a consistent approach to the Department’s work with northern partners;
• Ensure that the policies, programs, operations and legislative initiatives of the department are developed with an improved understanding of how they impact both on northern people and on our work in the North;
• Establish priorities and identify resources for all sectors whose work is based in or impacts on the North.
