Parent Education and Information

Services offered
Family Justice Services offers a six-hour information session, “Parenting After Separation and Divorce”. The session provides information about family law topics like: the Child Support Guidelines, mediation and other dispute resolution options, the effects of separation and divorce on children and parents, and how to co-parent post-separation. For parents involved in a court case relating to children, attendance is mandatory. Anyone else may attend voluntarily.

Family Justice Services also offers a six-hour high conflict parent education session in Regina and Saskatoon, once per month in each location, most of the year. Parents must first attend the general parent education program.

The “Kids in the Middle” program is a more culturally sensitive version of the Parenting After Separation and Divorce program, and contains most of the same information. The information is available on CD-Rom. The CD is available to those who reside in isolated communities, or to those whose health or specific personal circumstances make it difficult to attend an in-person session.
