Child Support Guidelines Office (Prince Edward Island)

Province/Territory
Prince Edward Island

Type of service
Support Establishment Services

Services offered
The Child Support Guidelines Office provides information on the Child Support Guidelines and helps people who represent themselves complete the required court documentation when they apply to establish child support for the first time or to vary an existing child support order. The office helps the courts by providing calculations using child support software and attends court hearings and drafts court orders. The office also assists clients with required documentation (consent order) when the parties agree on the amount of child support; this diverts cases from the courts. In addition, the office provides information for interjurisdictional support orders (ISO) cases and reviews form-based applications going to courts out of province. The Child Support Guidelines officers are not lawyers and do not provide legal advice.
