The Honourable Martin Vauclair, a judge of the Court of Quebec (Provincial Court), is appointed judge of the Superior Court of Quebec (Montréal) to replace Mr. Justice L. Crête, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of May 1, 2010.
Mr. Justice Vauclair was appointed to the Court of Quebec (Provincial Court) in 2005. He received a Bachelor of Science in Criminology (B.Sc.) in 1985 and a Bachelor of Civil Law (LL.L.) in 1993 from the Université de Montréal. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1994.
Mr. Justice Vauclair practised as a sole practitioner from 1994 until 2005 and was Crown Prosecutor for the Municipal Court of Ville Saint-Pierre from 1995 to 1999. He was an instructor for the criminal law course at the Université du Québec from 2002 to 2005. His main area of practice is criminal law.
In 1999, Mr. Justice Vauclair co-authored Traité general de preuve et de procedure pénales, now in its 13th edition, and authored other legal publications on criminal law. He has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences.
The Honourable Micheline Perrault, a lawyer with Miller Thomson Pouliot in Montréal, is appointed judge of the Superior Court of Quebec (Montreal) to replace Mr. Justice P. Journet, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of May 9, 2010.
Madam Justice Perrault received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.Trad.) in 1980 and Bachelor of Civil Law (LL.L.) in 1984 from the Université de Montréal. She was called to the Quebec Bar in 1985.
Madam Justice Perrault was a lawyer with Miller Thomson Pouliot from 1994 until her appointment, and with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin from 1985 to 1993. Her main areas of practice are family law, real estate law, civil law and commercial law and insolvency.
Madam Justice Perrault has been an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association, Quebec Division, and other various association committees since 2002, including the Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution sections. She was on the liaison committee between the Montréal Bar and the Superior Court. She has been a frequent guest speaker and lecturer as well as author of several articles and publications. She is an active member of various community organizations.
