OTTAWA, August 6, 2010 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:
The Honourable Alain Bolduc, a lawyer with Joli-Coeur, Lacasse s.e.n.c.r.l. (Trois-Rivières) is appointed Judge of the Superior Court of Quebec in Trois-Rivières to replace Mr. Justice I. Godin, who elected to become a supernumerary judge as of December 9, 2009.
Mr. Justice Bolduc received a Bachelor of Civil Law (C.L.L.) in 1987 from the University of Ottawa. He was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1988.
Mr. Justice Bolduc has been an associate with Joli-Coeur, Lacasse s.e.n.c.r.l. since 1989. He was a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Tax and Financial Planning Association, the Trois-Rivières Chamber of Commerce and the Real Estate Property Owners of Quebec. His main areas of practice were tax litigation and corporate law.
The Honourable Marie-Anne Paquette, a lawyer with Woods LLP (Montréal), is appointed Judge of the Superior Court of Quebec in Montréal to replace Madam Justice A.-M. Trahan, who resigned effective July 31, 2010.
Madam Justice Paquette received a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. - Honourable Mention) from the Université de Montréal in 1993. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1994.
Madam Justice Paquette has been an associate with Woods LLP since 2006 and prior to that was with McCarthy Tétrault (1995-2006). She was a law clerk to the Right Honourable Beverly McLachlin, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, and a part-time law clerk to the Honourable Morris Fish, who was then with the Quebec Court of Appeal. Her main area of practice was civil litigation.
Madam Justice Paquette has been an instructor for the Quebec Bar on civil procedure. She is the author and co-author of numerous articles and a frequent conference speaker.
These appointments are effective immediately.
