NOVA SCOTIA SUPREME COURT JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, August 11th, 2010 – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:

The Honourable Peter Rosinski, a lawyer with Public Prosecution Service (Halifax) is appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in Halifax to replace Mr. Justice P.M.S. Bryson, who was appointed to the Court of Appeal on August 5, 2010.

Mr. Justice Rosinski received a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) in 1981; a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in 1982 and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1985, all from Dalhousie University.  He was admitted to the Bar of Alberta in 1986, the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1987 and the Bar of Turks & Caicos in 1989.

Mr. Justice Rosinski has been a lawyer with Public Prosecution Service of Nova Scotia since 1989 and was Senior Crown Counsel (Appeals Group) since 2005.  He also practised with McLean & Associates, Turks & Caicos Islands in 1989; Margeson & Wilson (now Judge Margeson of the Tax Court) in 1988; and MacIntosh, MacDonnell & MacDonald (1986-1988).  He articled to Peter M. Clark, Q.C., now Justice of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer in Calgary.

Mr. Justice Rosinski was a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and of the Provincial Court Liaison Subcommittee.

This appointment is effective immediately.
