MINISTER OF JUSTICE APPOINTS CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR TO COURTS ADMINISTRATION SERVICE

OTTAWA, December 13, 2010 – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the appointment of Daniel Gosselin as Chief Administrator of Courts Administration Service, effective January 31, 2011.

Mr. Gosselin is a chartered accountant who holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Université du Québec. He is fluently bilingual and has almost 20 years of management experience within both the private and public sectors.

Mr. Gosselin has been Vice-President, Corporate Management, and Chief Financial Officer for the National Research Council of Canada since 2004 and was Acting President from February to April 2010. From 1998 to 2004, he held the position of Executive Director of Finance and Awards Administration for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Previously, he served as Senior Analyst to the Chief Accountant and Director of Finance and Procurement of the National Capital Commission. Mr. Gosselin began his career in the private sector with the accounting firms of Touche Ross and Raymond Chabot Martin Paré. He is very involved in the community in the areas of health, education and youth. He also teaches at the École nationale d'administration publique.

The Courts Administration Service was established on July 2, 2003, by the Courts Administration Services Act, S.C. 2002, c. 8. The role of the Courts Administration Service is to provide comprehensive administrative services to the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and Tax Court of Canada.
