Inuit culture was the theme for the third annual cross-cultural training session, sponsored by the Aboriginal Justice Strategy (AJS) late last month. Nearly 40 participants from various sections within Justice and other departments were treated to an Inuit lunch, a presentation on Inuit perspectives in Canada, and a performance of traditional Inuit throat singing. The activities were held at the Aboriginal Experiences facility on Victoria Island.
The Aboriginal Justice Directorate sponsors this event as one tool to help sensitize its employees to Aboriginal culture. The popularity of the event has spread to other areas of the department, and all are welcome to attend.
