Federal, provincial and territorial governments work together to provide parents with the tools they need to reach parenting arrangements that are in the child's best interests. Parents must be encouraged to always keep the best interests of the child in the foreground as they consider all the issues relevant to their family's situation, in order to minimize the potentially negative impact of separation and divorce on both their children and themselves.
Lawyers are key players in making the legal process as collaborative as possible. This collection, comprised of articles, checklists and a bibliography, is intended to provide practical guidance to lawyers, particularly on topics that they may not deal with on a regular basis. The articles address various issues in family law that present unique complexities. They are intended to assist lawyers in helping their clients make decisions that are tailored to their children's needs, to do so promptly and to comply with those decisions.
