Youth Justice Fund: Approval Process

The Youth Justice Fund receives and evaluates funding applications on a continuous basis.

If you are interested in obtaining support for a project, please first take the time to thoroughly review the information posted on our web site.

If you believe your project concept fits with the Fund’s mandate, objectives and priorities, your next step is to contact the program analyst whose name is listed for the Fund component under which you wish to apply.

The program analyst will be able to further advise you on your project and on current funding availability.  Should your project appear to fit within the Fund’s mandate, objectives and priorities, he or she will also provide you with a Letter of Intent (LOI) form. The LOI is used for a preliminary assessment of your project concept.

Youth Justice staff review the LOI to determine if your project is the type of project the Fund is interested in exploring at the present time.  The program analyst will contact you once this review is complete, to advise you on whether you should submit a full proposal.

The analyst will send you the project proposal form, a more detailed version of the LOI form. On this form, you will be asked to submit more information on your project, including a work plan, a detailed budget and in some cases, letters of support from identified partners and /or an evaluation logic model.

An internal review committee will assess your proposal.  The analyst will get back to you with any questions, comments or issues raised by the review committee. When the review is finished, the analyst will contact you with the final decision.

For information on timelines, please refer to Service Standards.
