The Recipient is proposing to undertake a two-pronged initiative to reach young people with information about their rights. The first prong will see the Recipient organizing and hosting a train-the-trainer style forum for youth-serving intermediaries in Alberta in order to create an Alberta-wide network of organizations equipped to provide just-in-time legal information to a variety of youth constituencies. The second prong is to organize an Alberta-wide educational program (a legal education through live theatre initiative), tied to curriculum, that will target 12 to 17-year olds in schools and their parents. Under this agreement, the Recipient will develop a legal education script regarding the rights and obligations of young people in the criminal justice system to be used in the educational program, as well as accompanying and "take home" resources. The Recipient will also identify and orient at least five prospective youth troupe producers/directors from various segments of the Alberta population such as First Nations/aboriginal, French language, justice system experienced, rural/remote, urban, etc.
