The program will provide meaningful and culturally appropriate victim services to all members of the Elsipogtog.
The objectives of the program are to raise awareness among community members, victims of crime and their families on the impact of victimization. It will assist and prepare victims at the pre-trial, trial and post-trial stages of the Criminal Justice System. It will assist and prepare victims during the pre and post charge stages of the Restorative Justice Program. The program will allow making referrals to appropriate service providers and agencies. It will facilitate safety measures and provide support services for victims-at-risk. It will provide support services to the immediate family members of victims of crime. It will provide victims of crime with the opportunity to express themselves in the language of their choice (Migmag, English or French). It will provide, develop and maintain linkages with local and external services. The program will gather and document program statistics and maintain a database. It will also provide efficient financial and activity reporting on the program.
