Touchwood Agency Tribal Council operates agency-level community justice programs. that deliver alternative measures programs for youth and adults that are grounded in traditional First Nations values, beliefs and methods of dispute resolution.
The Tribal Council supports the ongoing development of band-level Community Justice Committees (CJCs) in their five member First Nations. CJCs organize, guide and direct community justice activities. These activities include crime prevention; early intervention; healing, talking and sentencing circles; mediation and dispute resolution; alternative measures programs for adults and youth; victims services; and community-based correctional services that focus on offender rehabilitation and reintegration, and victim/offender healing. The program also co-ordinates and delivers training and workshops in restorative justice, crime prevention, powers of band councils and alternative measures for First Nations communities and surrounding municipalities.
