Purpose: The Black Law Students Association of Canada will host an annual conference on February 22 and 23, 2008 in Vancouver. The conference serves as a means of networking and discussing ideas and strategies in the areas of law relating to race, gender and employment. The conference is also a vehicle to allow the organization to begin implementing ideas from previous discussions and conferences. This conference will address issues around diversity and racism and their affect on the administration of justice and legal professional organizations, with a long term goal of contributing to more diversity in the judiciary and among practitioners. It will explore ways to address these issues and will increase awareness among legal organizations about diversity issues in the justice system and racism. As such, this project responds to the objectives of the Canada's Action Plan Against Racism component of JPIP:
