Purpose: The project is the second phase of a project that would see the development of two French language terminology training courses that will be available on the Internet. The courses will cover criminal law, the justice system, language rights and pleas. The courses will be prepared for jurists who speak French but are not at ease with French legal terminology and using French in court. They will be accessible for free and at any time over the Internet in order to accommodate participants. The first phase involves the development of the course plans, resources, exercises and correction keys. The second phase will see the courses offered on-line and will provide access to a resource person offering help to participants and making corrections. It is expected that this project will help jurists improve their French and increase their confidence to use French in court. It is also expected that this pilot project will provide useful information on the effectiveness of online training.
