The Blood Tribe has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada under the 'capacity-building component' of the Aboriginal Justice Strategy Fund. The Blood Tribe has been in the process of developing the Kainai Peacemaking Program for a number of years and is now preparing to implement the Program in the community. The Program core staff, Peacemakers and Elders will require a broad range of training in order to effectively manage the Program and provide a range of community justice services.
Activities for the project will include orientation and training with respect to the principles, processes and protocols of traditional Kainai Peacemaking and mediation training, including conflict management, arbitration and restorative justice. Administrative personnel will receive training and orientation in the area of Blood Tribe operational policies, administrative infrastructure, human resources, personnel policy and procedures and labour laws.
