Purpose: The Yorkton Tribal Council has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Yorkton Tribal Council Community Justice Program. The objectives of the program are to co-ordinate the development and implementation of community justice structures, plans and services for the cities of Yorkton and Melville, the six member First Nations of the Tribal Council, as well as Kamsack, Pelly, Canora and Broadview and areas surrounding these communities. The program will focus on holistic community development and restoration, and develop and implement alternative measures programming for youth and adults. In addition, work will continue on crime prevention, healing and sentencing circles, and community based victims and correctional services.
