The Mi'kmaq Confederacy of Prince Edward Island Inc. has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to deliver the Atlantic Circle Keeper Workshop to restore peace in Aboriginal communities in the Atlantic Region.
The Atlantic Circle Keeper Workshop will bring together justice workers from across the Atlantic Provinces for a one and one-half day workshop in February 2010, to agree to a common definition of best practices when it comes to conducting Aboriginal Justice Circles. This project will provide an opportunity to share information and to learn from one another's programs on how to best serve the needs of both the victim and offender in Aboriginal communities. Further, participants will enhanced their abilities to work together to deal with justice issues and provide Aboriginal controlled and culturally based justice alternatives.
This project is jointly funded under the Aboriginal Justice Strategy Fund ($17,925) and the Victims Fund ($17,925).
