Purpose: This project is a public awareness and education campaign on the potential harms of drink-spiking, how to prevent it and how to provide support to women who may have been victims of drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA). The campaign also aims to inform visitors and tourists in Vancouver on resources and support services available. The campaign includes: a) posters and coasters, distributed to liquor-licencee venues, containing facts about drink-spiking, commonly used drugs, tips on how to stay safe and information on support services available for women who have been assaulted; 2) the development of a Web page containing educational material; the recruitment and training of volunteers to act as ambassadors for the campaign, meeting with managers and owners of liquor-licence establishments to encourage participation in the campaign and train staff on drug-facilitated sexual assault; and, 3) special information packages to be distributed to managers and staff operating licensed premises. The campaign launch is planned for November 2009 and ends February 2010, a few months prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
