The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to coordinate a Regional Networking Gathering and Information Session.
The objectives of the project are to bring together all Quebec community justice program coordinators to enhance collaboration, share information and address issues relevant to the group, and create awareness of the "Gladue decision" and its impacts on Aboriginal communities.
The partners the organization will work with on this program are the Makivik Corporation, and le ministère de la justice du Québec.
The expected results of the project are to help program coordinators to better deal with the issues they are facing in their day to day work, help people understand the importance of Gladue for their community; and create opportunities for networking and information sharing.
The project will serve the current Aboriginal Justice Strategy community program coordinators in the province of Quebec.
