The organization will host its Fifth National Criminal Justice Symposium in Montréal, Québec, on January 18 and 19, 2013. The theme of the symposium will be "Mental Health Meets Criminal Justice: A Practical Toolkit." The symposium will engage key participants of the criminal justice system (judges, government representatives, corrections officials and lawyers) and law enforcement to build on the research for and recommendations from the 2011 Building Bridges Symposium and the Mental Health Commission of Canada's Mental Health Strategy. The objectives of the Symposium are to develop practical solutions, strategies and best practice recommendations to assist frontline justice system participants to deal with mental health and criminal justice issues. The solutions developed at the symposium will be forwarded to senior policy makers with a view to promote and encourage timely implementation.
