The Thunderchild First Nation has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to deliver the Thunderchild First Nation Community Justice Program. The Program provides services to Thunderchild First Nation and the communities of St. Walburg and Turtleford.
The vision of the Program is to deliver and maintain, in a fair and just manner, community justice services designed to enhance and nurture mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well being of self, family, community and Nation.
Using a holistic approach, the objectives of the Program are to provide alternative measures and intensive case management for youth and adults in accordance with the Community Justice Plan which sets out the mandate, goals and objectives, operating practices and priorities of the Community Justice Committee. Identified priorities include public education, crime prevention, victim services, community-based corrections services, and alternative measures programs for adults and youth including family group conferences, healing and sentencing circles.
