Purpose: The St. John River Valley Tribal Council Inc. (SJRVTC) has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to plan, organize and deliver the Access to Justice - Justice Information Workshop for First Nations Project. The SJRVTC will deliver a 2-day workshop to build bridges and partnerships between the 15 New Brunswick First Nations and existing justice programs and services, through presentations from different justice stakeholders. The partners the SJRVTC will work with on this Project are: Public Legal Education and Information Service, Province of New Brunswick - Justice, Province of New Brunswick - Solicitor General, Parole Board of Canada - Victim Services, Parole Board of Canada - Record Suspension, Legal Aid New Brunswick - Criminal Law Services and Legal Aid New Brunswick - Family Law Services, and existing community-justice Programs. The expected result of the Project is to inform key individuals in First Nation communities and provide them with a resource guide and contact information for the various existing justice programs and services.
