Purpose: The Yellowhead Tribal Community Corrections Society has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the First Nations Custom Advisory Panels Program. The objective of the Program is to oversee the delivery and on-going capacity development of First Nation Custom Advisory Panels in the five member First Nations of the Yellowhead Tribal Council. The five member First Nations are Alexander First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Enoch Cree Nation, O'Chiese First Nation, and Sunchild First Nation. The advisory panels are designed to utilize traditional methods of conflict resolution in a manner that is transparent to all members of the participating First Nation Communities and other organizations that deal with these First Nation governments or institutions. The Program has strong working relations with Royal Canadian Mounted Police, National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program, Victims Services as well as Crown and local judiciary organizations.
