The Government of Nunavut has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the "Community Justice - Building community based capacity within a Restorative Justice Context" Project. The objective of the project is to organize two 3-day regional gatherings in Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. The gathering will include two training sessions to increase communication and collaboration amongst the Government of Nunavut Department of Justice Officials and Nunavut Justice Committees, and to promote restorative justice specific to Nunavut.
There will be an opportunity for Officials of the Community Justice Division, Corrections, courts and policy analysts to partake in open dialogue sessions focusing on the delivery of sustainable programs and services between a community and regional level. Both gatherings will strengthen the capacity of the Justice Committees delivering restorative justice training at a community level.
