Updated information for employees: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

Your Questions Answered

New information is becoming available every day about how Justice Canada is adapting our work during the COVID-19 situation. Here’s a round-up of the latest answers to your important questions:

Can I still request IT services without access to the office?

The Justice IT National Help Centre remains fully operational, although they will only be providing in-person support for exceptional situations for everybody’s protection. You can contact them by phone at (613) 957-4357 or 1-877-365-3375 or by email. When it comes to purchasing IT-related equipment, please contact your manager or your Director of Business Management.

I am working from home. Can I enter my office to pick something up?

Following the direction of public health authorities, the number of people entering the workplace must be kept to an absolute minimum. Justice offices are currently closed to all but critical staff, and employees will not be able to enter unless they have prior approval from their manager.

Justice Employees Working in the National Capital Region (NCR)

For all employees who work in Justice buildings in the NCR (Constitution Square, East Memorial Building, St. Andrew’s Tower, 50 O’Connor Street and 99 Bank Street) and are still wondering if they can access the building, the following process must be followed.

  • If you would like to access any of these buildings, you must have the approval of your manager and follow the direction already provided by your Director General or Assistant Deputy Minister.
  • Managers will provide names to Management Sector of those employees who are required to come in to the building.
  • If an employee accesses the building but is not on this list, their manager will be contacted for more information and follow up.

Departmental Legal Services Units

For those working in Departmental Legal Services Units hosted in other departments’ buildings, please follow the process for your specific building.

Regional Offices

For questions about spaces occupied by Justice employees outside of the NCR, please contact your regional accommodations and security contact.

We understand that many of you may want to access the building for personal or professional reasons. Please know that this effort to limit access is being done to protect the health and safety of all of us and to heed the advice of local, regional and federal public health authorities.

We also remind everyone to please continue to heed the advice of our Chief Public Health Officer and your local public health authorities.

Can I work on the Justice network again?

Yes. Thanks to a bandwidth upgrade, you can now access the Justice network even during peak hours. For more information, see Update #11. Please continue to follow the Network Capacity Best Practices.
