Purpose:

The Gitxsan Unlocking Aboriginal Justice Society has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Gitxsan Unlocking Aboriginal Justice Program (GUAJP). The overall goals of the Program are: to enable the Gitxsan to assume responsibility for all aspects of justice involving criminal, civil and family matters; to reduce the number of Gitxsan members involved in, or incarcerated by the criminal justice system; to enable the Gitxsan House Groups to take responsibility for their House members returning from correctional and federal institutions; and to provide Justice Facilitators for each Gitxsan community.
