Purpose:

The Mi'kmaq Legal Support Network, c/o Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaw, has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage a project entitled, "Scoping Issues Regarding Provincial Aboriginal Offenders". The project's overall goals are to: address how the Mi'kmaq community of Nova Scotia can maintain and improve their ability to provide community-based linkages and/or referral services on behalf of Aboriginal inmates in Provincial correctional facilities; develop liaison relationships between Provincial, Federal, and Community-based programs and clients; and to engage First Nations Communities and Justice in the development of a framework to support the holistic healing of the Aboriginal offender and his/her eventual reintegration into society.
