Purpose:

The Heiltsuk Gvi'ilas Community Justice Program has entered into a community-based justice program fund contribution agreement with the Department of Justice to manage the Heiltsuk Restorative Justice Program.
The Heiltsuk Gvi'ilas Community Justice Program provides reintegration protocols and programs mainly to the community of Bella Bella (1500 people), as well as Denny Island (75), Ocean Falls (50), and "off-Reserve" First nations of Heiltsuk (1000) when needed.
The Program objectives are to restore community wellness and balance by supporting and promoting the principles of restorative justice. The Program works with various organizations to accomplish these objectives by engaging victims, as well as youth and adult offenders and their families, in the administration of justice and the resolution process.
