Purpose:

The Enaahtig Healing Lodge and Learning Centre has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to launch an Aboriginal Community Justice Program in Simcoe County, with a focus on the urban area of Barrie, Midland and Collingwood. Through this project, the Enaahtig Healing Lodge and Learning Centre will design, develop and implement a community-based approach for an Aboriginal community justice model for youth and adults. The project seeks to reduce the involvement of at risk youth and adults in the criminal justice system by developing the capacity of the Aboriginal community to provide appropriate interventions and services in partnership with the Ontario justice systems.
