Purpose:

The Conseil de la Nation Atikamekw has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Système d'intervention d'autorité atikamekw (SIAA). Through this initiative the Conseil de la Nation Atikamekw delivers culturally relevant alternatives to mainstream child protection and young offender systems in the Atikamekw communities of Manawan and Wemotaci. The SIAA offers diversion and community sentencing programs for youths in contact with the justice system, and mediation and family group conferencing to address child protection issues.
