The Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation (MMFN) has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation Community Justice Program.
The Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation Community Justice Program provides various alternative dispute resolution programs for approximately 280 members of the Tsaxana Community.
The objectives of the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation Community Justice Program include the MMFN to take a greater responsibility in the administration of justice to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related incidents in the community, while focusing on traditional values and beliefs to educate, and prevent future criminal behaviour and incarcerations.
