The Kwanlin Dün First Nation has entered into a contribution agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage and deliver the Kwanlin Dün First Nation Social Justice Program. The Program has four objectives: to promote awareness and understanding of behaviours and actions that can cause or prevent crime; to assist the community in resolving its own disputes; to empower the community so it can assume greater responsibility for its justice issues; and to support the community in healing after it has been harmed.
The Program accomplishes these goals by operating a pre- and post-charge diversion program, with an emphasis on reintegration and prevention. Information is also provided to community members about the Program.
