The Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada will bring students from Grades 9 to 12, in 40 urban/rural communities across Canada to a theatre setting to view a multimedia workshop performance of Ghosts of Violence. The performance is an innovative ballet inspired by women who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence. This full-length ballet, combining theatre and multimedia, aims to capture the memory of these silent victims and increase public awareness on domestic violence issues. The project will provide educational materials on healthy relationships, dating violence and information on local resources and services available within the community. The company will tour the ballet to every province of Canada over a three year period.
The proposed project offers an innovative format that brings together RCMP, victim services and services providers working in the area of family violence in a youth friendly environment. Further, the project will provide educational materials on healthy relationships, dating violence and information on local resources and services available within the community.
