Purpose:
|
The Campus Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta will conduct a six-part project that aims to increase access to justice in French in Alberta. The main activities include the development of six products, namely: a university course in French on the Canadian justice system and justice related careers; certification for language training offered by the Centre canadien de français juridique inc.; specific courses to help justice professionals working in English to maintain their knowledge of French and to increase their capacity to offer services in French; summer camps that will promote justice related careers to young people; partnerships to provide opportunities for defence lawyers to develop their abilities to practice in French; and, as a pilot project, a local justice center that will contribute to increasing access to justice in both official languages.
