Purpose:

The organization will conduct a feasibility study on electronic and digital signatures (EDS) solutions for the justice sector in Canada. The goals of the project are to ascertain the legal validity standard for EDS; to determine if that standard is met by a selection of EDS methods; to assess planned, ongoing and completed governmental EDS initiatives that have potential to be used by the justice sector; to assess EDS options for ease of use, legal validity, technological sustainability and cost effectiveness; and, to provide recommended steps towards the creation of an environment in which members of the justice sector can avail themselves of an EDS.
