The Onion Lake Native Justice Inc. has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to manage the Onion Lake Community Justice Program.
The objective of the Program is to implement and deliver a pre- and post-charge diversion program for adults and youth that seeks to restore and reintroduce traditional First Nation justice practices. The Program engages in community-based sentencing and corrections, and operates pre-release circles to support the reintegration of offenders into the community.
Onion Lake Native Justice Inc. has developed a mandate, vision and mission statement, as well as a strategic planning process to ensure that their philosophy, mission and goals are compatible with community aspirations.
