Purpose:

The Recipient proposes to implement a career development program specifically for youth in custody. This new undertaking will build on "Road Map", a financial literacy project currently delivered at the New Brunswick Youth Centre. This project will have a hands on approach, and youth in custody will be engaged and consulted about the overall project development. It is anticipated that the program will consist of several hours of career development related training to youth within the facility and some pre-approved adventure based outings or activities. Where possible, program participants will remain connected with the program for a six (6) month period following their release in order to receive further support in their efforts to find and maintain employment. This follow up will also support their individual career plans and chart their progress.
