Purpose:

The Manitoba Metis Federation Inc. has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to operate the Thompson Community Justice Program.
The Program focuses on increasing the capacity of the Aboriginal community within Thompson, Manitoba, to deal with justice at a community level. The goal of the Program is to reduce the number of individuals in contact with the justice system by using local culture and values in a community justice approach. The Program supports court diversions of individuals from the mainstream justice system to community-based alternatives that work in partnership with the mainstream justice system.
