Purpose:

The Bigstone Cree Nation has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to deliver a project titled, Restorative Justice capacity building and working toward a Bigstone Tribal Justice Program.
The Recipient will develop a community justice training model and organize, host and deliver training and workshops on a variety of justice issues based on community needs: restorative justice and violence against Indigenous women and girls. Training will be made available to communities within Bigstone Cree Nation (Wabasca, Calling Lake and Chipewyan Lakes) and justice stakeholders (i.e., local volunteers, agency representatives, Elders). Through this Project, the Recipient will also support and build internal capacity for the delivery of ongoing restorative justice training by a newly designated staff member of Bigstone Cree Nation.
