Purpose:

The Government of Nunavut has entered into a funding agreement with the Department of Justice Canada to plan, organize and deliver the "Enhancing Restorative Justice and Family Group Conferencing in Nunavut" project. The 5 day training will be held in Iqaluit. Day 1 and 2 will be attended by Community Justice Specialists, Day 3-5 will be attended by Specialists, Community Justice Outreach Workers, and Facilitators from the Justice Committees. The participants will develop the necessary skills to facilitate a Family Group Conference process ensuring the sustainability of the Family Group Conferencing model for Nunavut. In addition, a video will be created to build capacity in all 25 communities.
