Purpose:
|
The project will allow the organization to increase their capacity and expand their programs and services to include transgender and gender variant/non-conforming victims of sexual assault in British Columbia setting them on a path to justice and healing. The organization will work to shift discriminatory attitudes that lead to violence against transgender and gender variant/non-conforming victims of sexual assault and their exclusion from systems of support by providing specialized victim services, counselling, support group programming and a 24-hour crisis line. They will also provide community outreach and education on the root causes of violence against transgender and gender variant/non-conforming people and advocacy for victims accessing the hospital, reporting sexual assault to the police and navigating the criminal justice system.
