Purpose:

This organization will partner with the Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre to implement a two-pronged strategy to better support survivors, justice system personnel, and the frontline service workers who support them throughout the province. The first component will enhance outreach to and trauma-informed training of police, crown and defence attorneys, judges, victims' services workers and others, to improve understanding of both sexual assault law and the challenges faced by survivors who choose to engage with the justice system. The second component will develop and implement a trauma-informed counselling service targeting survivors, with the intent of increasing their resilience and level of empowerment as they explore legal options and move through the judicial process.
