Purpose:

This project aims to address gaps in services linked to the lack of sentencing circles over recent years in the Yorkton Tribal Council's (YTC) service region. More particularly, the YTC will develop materials aimed at addressing these gaps including: a "Sentencing Circle Request" form, an information document which outlines the purpose of sentencing circles, and an updated Justice Guidebook relating to Restorative Justice, Sentencing Circles, and Gladue factors. The project also includes the development of Education and Training activities including a 2-day Sentencing Circle training program for justice system stakeholders as well as 2 one-day Cross-cultural workshops designed to create positive working relationships between First Nations peoples, organizations or service providers and government service providers.
