Purpose:

This project will support an evaluation of the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Gladue Pre-sentence Report Program. The evaluation will examine the integration and the effectiveness of Gladue reports in Alberta's Provincial Court and Court of Queen's Bench, enabling evidence-based decision-making in order to identify ways of improving the effectiveness of Gladue sentencing decisions, improving government and judicial accountability for implementing Gladue principles, and evaluating the impact of Gladue sentences on Indigenous offenders.
