An Aboriginal Focusing Oriented Therapist will work with VACPCS staff to deliver trauma informed skills and techniques to families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls throughout the National Inquiry process. This method of healing is based on a traditional Aboriginal model and will include teaching and practice sessions with families in a traditional circle. Families will learn new techniques to respond more effectively to their trauma. Family members will gain experience, skills and understandings of the diverse types and levels of trauma and its pervasive effects on their lives. Wellness plans and activities will be built into the project plan to address vicarious trauma among staff.
