Purpose:

The Recipient agrees to contribute to addressing the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system through increased involvement in the administration of justice by developing and implementing a Legal Framework for a First Nation Justice System in consultation with community-based and restorative justice programs in Saskatchewan. The objective the funding is to gather information on sacred teachings of the nehiywak nation and present a more comprehensive and meaningful Framework for the review and adoption by the Indian Justice Commission and ultimately by the FSIN Chiefs-in-Assembly.
