The File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council operates agency-level community justice programs that deliver alternative measures programs for youth and adults that are grounded in traditional First Nations values, beliefs and methods of traditional dispute resolution. The Tribal Council also supports the ongoing development of band-level Community Justice Committees (CJCs) in their member First Nations. CJCs organize, guide and direct community justice activities. These activities include crime prevention; early intervention; healing, talking and sentencing circles; mediation and dispute resolution; alternative measures programs for adults and youth; victims’ services; and community based correctional services that focus on offender rehabilitation and reintegration, and victim/offender healing.
