Purpose:

Beardy’s & Okemasis First Nation’s Justice Initiative continues to work within a five-year justice strategy that focuses on, but is not limited to, alternative measures for youth and adults, family group conferencing, sentencing and releasing circles. The program works closely with various government agencies including the RCMP, Police Management Board, Corrections Services Canada, and Corrections and Public Safety to develop an integrated community justice approach for both youth and adults. Referrals are received from the police, the community and the courts.
