Purpose:

Deer Creek Training and Therapy Inc., School Mediation Program (DC-SMP) is designed to offer children at the primary school level a preventative strategy using Alternative Dispute Resolution Techniques. Participation in the program teaches youth an alternative method of resolving conflict to help them avoid coming into contact with the formal justice system for schoolyard disputes where there is potential for violence against either person or property. The program stresses offender accountability to victims, family and school community through the use of mediation and group conferencing.
